The mid-Autumn Festival has a history over 3,000 years, with it's associations tied to the story of the moon goddess Chang'e. It was a time of agriculture difficulties & where people worship the moon to give thanks for the harvest and to encourage the "harvest-giving light" for the next upcoming years. In modern days, with more people having sufficient food supplies, the meaning has slowly changed to represent family, good health, prosperity, and happiness.
